Description
This beautiful forest scenes mug was handmade on the pottery wheel with a brown clay body that has a lot of manganese in it. When it dried out, I attached the handle and applied a black underglaze. Then I carved the trees, river and mountains, this technique is called Sgraffito. Then I painted all of the details. After it was fired the first time, I applied a clear glaze to the forest scene, then used a wax resist before dipping the whole mug into a sparkly blue glaze that gives it the feel of night time.
The mug depicts a woodland scene with trees and a river. would be a great handmade gift for the holidays.
The mug is 4 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide with the handle. It has a bulbous shape that gives it a large 20oz capacity.
